What is Statutory Rape?
It is a term used describing the act of consensual sexual activity between an adult and a minor, considering that the minor had reached puberty not before. Otherwise it would be called Child Molestation. For more details CLICK HERE
This is one of the most controversial issues between the West and the Middle I will start by creating two different scenarios.
West Scenario:
A 17 year old guy was dating a 15 year old girl. They had sex because they "loved" each other. Two years they've been together, she's now 17 and the guy is 19. If the parents find out about the sexual activity and were AH's, they can report the guy and he will be accused of statutory rape. All because he is an adult and she is a minor. He will be charged because he was having consensual sex with a girl who is under the consensual age. Why is it fixed that an under 18 girl can't have sex with an adult man? Is 18 the perfect age?
Middle East Scenario:
A 19 year old guy was dating a 13 year old girl. They dated for two years, they had sex. Let's assume the parents found out, all the consequences never lead to the accusation of rape. In the Middle East there is one answer, they get married. They don't care about being under 18.
In the West, a 16 year old is not considered a person who can make decisions about any sexual activity. In the Middle East, some people have children while married when the girl is younger than 16. I am against the idea of sexual activity for under 18 because the consequences and the risks of pregnancy are high, but not because the minor female or male are not capable of making decisions about their own body. Let's assume a Middle Eastern adult guy is married to a 15 year old girl. They go to United States because he got a job offer there. I am sure that this person will be living the worst life ever and will be judged by millions of people for marrying a minor girl. Forgetting that Statutory Rape in the West can be legal consensual marriage in the Middle East.
One thing I have to make clear for the readers. Rape is rape everywhere and it's at least a one sided non consensual sexual activity between two or more (completely different than statutory rape). What's extremely unfair in the Middle East compared to the West is that in the Middle East, once the rapist approve of marrying the girl he raped, it's not considered rape anymore and the girl shall live with her rapist forever. In the West rape is taken very seriously and I wish we can practice strong laws against rape in the Middle East as the West does.
